American Idol is Feature News

8:30 am Uncategorized

It seems just about every day that I go to Yahoo I see some article about what’s happening on American Idol as feature news.   Either its talking about how old whats-her-name saying dingbatty things, or that Randy-fellow actually being mean for a change, or something that the mean guy says being ‘cruel.”   The “mean guy” being “cruel”?  OMG, let’s report it in feature news!

I guess its a good thing, though.  If all there is to report is stuff about American Idol, we must be doing pretty good as a people.  I mean, nothing going on with China, right?

When I first made Yahoo my home page, I chose it because I wanted an organized easy way to find websites, without being inundated with useless claptrap… Yes, I said claptrap, I am officially old now… What happened to the ability to browse down a list of website topics that were sorted and semi organized? I miss those days. Now if I go to Yahoo, I see news “tailored” to my interests? I have never watched America Idol, I am not a follower of college basketball, and I really could not care any less who is having who’s baby in Hollywood… Harumph!

And then they have all these ad’s and banners and misleading links to websites that I am not interested or concerned about. I know my credit scores, am not interested in another fly by night online university, and will not be spending my money on the “NEWEST AND GREATEST CELL PHONE EVER MADE!”

And the news articles that lead you to a video news article? If I wanted to watch CNN’s news clip, I would turn on the TV, I am looking at a webpage, I want to scan the news article, not listen to 2 minutes of advertising that cannot be skipped, just to see a 30 second blurb about something I was interested in… And then half the time the news clip is so poor in quality, that you miss the whole gist of the story… And if you decide to watch the news clip again, you have to watch the ad again…

Bah humbug! I don’t like it! Now get those darn kids off my virtual lawn! Pah…

Yeah, I hate it when I click on an article title and then notice that it is a video link. I don’t mind the video, but I do mind the 30 second commercial I’d have to watch if I wanted to watch the video.

Nope. Give me straight text so I can read what I want and skip the rest.
